Marvel Panel (Comic-Con 2007)

Marvel brought out an all star cast to showcase a new property (Iron Man) and a reboot (Incredible Hulk). First up was the Incredible Hulk panel and none other than Ed Norton himself showed up to give us the inside information. Liv Tyler (the new Betty Ross) also showed up for her first Comic-Con appearance ever.
The Incredible Hulk
 - This movie will completely ignore the Ang Lee Hulk film. It will be "a part one, a beginning of a whole new Hulk saga."
- Shooting is taking place in Toronto currently.
- Ed Norton actually wrote the screenplay for this movie which we broke about a week ago in this article: Ed Norton wrote The Incredible Hulk.
- Norton said he is taking the movie "very seriously" and his script "does not talk down to the story or the character." He went on to say that he loves the idea of a very lonely person at war with the thing inside of him. Norton said his past roles of dual characters will help him to better achieve a realism for Hulk.
 - In the story, Betty Ross is looking for a cure for Hulk.
- This film is much more focused on telling the story and not on the origin. But they did say that this origin will be more a mixture of "between the TV show and the comic book origin story."
- Norton said he was highly influenced by Bruce Jones: Return of the Monster series.
- The film has over 350 scenes whereas a typical movie only has about 150.
- There will be lots of references to other parts of the Marvel Universe but that they will be "re-tweaking the way things are connected."
- There will be lots of Easter eggs and hints in the film for fans of the TV show and comics.
Iron Man
The Iron Man panel really delivered. Not only did the entire cast show up including Robert Downey Jr. and Gwenneth Paltrow as well as Terrance Howard and Jon Favreau but they gave us what we wanted. LOTS of footage and it looks amazing. This film is going kick serious ass.
 - We saw 4 minutes of footage. Downey talking to a group of military joint chiefs and demo-ing Stark Industry's newest high tech weapon. The speech he gives is brash and exactly on character for Tony Stark. Best quote was Stark to the generals: "They say the best weapon is the one never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is the one you only have to fire... once." We see an accident, Stark with his heart magnetic implant, and a huge sequence where he wears the original suit and trashes the bad guys. A few scenes at the end where he is wearing the more updated classic suit.
 - The film has as many practical effects as possible and they are being done by none other than Stan Winston (Aliens, Predator).
- None of the CG for the film is completed yet. ILM is doing the work.
 - Terrance Howard (I love this guy!) said this was "the most fun I've ever had on a film."
