Radiohead's In Rainbows: The impressive aftermath

 If you're looking for revenue, alas, the numbers aren't available to the public (and may never be), but we do have a figure of downloads. First, site rankings. The band's In Rainbows official site has marked a 28,000% growth for the week, and has acheived the rank of 1,476 from 307,641 in just a matter of hours (from Alexa.org).
As for the number of downloads, only one number has surfaced.
Gigwise brought the number to attention from what they say is "a source close to the band". This source has not been named or proved, but the numbers don't sound too extravagent for this situation.
They report that 1.2 million downloads of the album were unleashed on just the very first day of it's release. Pretty easy to do the math here: if everyone donated an average of $1, they'd have turned a profit of $1.2 million in the first day.
This number also doesn't include how many discboxes were sold, and definitely doesn't account for how many donations there were, and at what price.
End result? Radiohead has probably helped collapse the entire industry and, therefore, changed the world. 'Nuff said.
