Joss Whedon brings fans up to date (Comic-Con 2007)

Joss Whedon showed up at Comic-Con with a list of projects that he's been buried in. Basically, his plan is to give us a constant flow of short films, comics, feature-lengths, and many other little projects that we can consistently salivate over, instead of working on something singularly over a couple years and getting dumped (-cough- Wonder Woman -cough-).
Currently, Joss' main focus is on fantasy-thriller film called The Goners but that's certainly not the only thing on his weekly work schedule. He said he has about 12 clipboards on his wall: One for each of his different projects (he tries to keep a max limit of 12).
| A 2-disc Serenity Collector's Edition DVD will appear on the market on August 21st. It includes a cast/filmmaker commentary and 30 minutes of new special features including extended scenes, and various making-of documentaries. It also includes all of the special features from the previous release. | "Sugar Shock" is the first comic by Joss Whedon that isn't based off something else. He recently released it as part of the new online comic series "Myspace Dark Horse Presents..." (http://www.myspace.com/darkhorsepresents). It's free to Myspace users.
He announced for the first time that he's working on a new horror movie called "Cabin In the Woods" and claimed it would be the "horror film to end all horror films. Literally."
Joss is also working on a 90-minute Buffy spin-off for BBC called "Ripper".
Along those lines, a question was asked whether we would see the character Oz appear in the Buffy comic series again. Joss' response: "I can't tell you when but you won't have to ask if." Along with his announcement that he has no intention to ever stop writing Buffy comics, he said that he's starting a new series based off of "Angel", another one of his cancelled programs. It's ironically called "Angel: After the Fall".
When asked if more will be done with "Fray" (comic about Buffy in the future), Whedon simply responded with a "yes". -audience cheers and pandemonium ensue-
Joss promised that his other comic projects, namely Runaways and the Astonishing X-Men, "won't end with a whimper."
For those of you that have been praying for the day when you would see Joss Whedon credited for directing a Harry Potter flick, well you obviously need to pray more earnestly because it looks like it's never going to happen. Would he be interested in directing one of the final Harry Potter films? Sure. Would he ever be asked to? Very doubtful. It's a train already in motion and not much room for the kind of creative reboot that Joss would certainly twist to make it not suck. Oh well... I suppose it's better off if this train comes to a complete stop before it starts getting good. Personally, I thank the gods for this because Joss shouldn't be wasting his time on this stuff.
One of his more unexpected pieces of news was that he's finishing composing a score for a short film called "Serving Girl" starring Summer Glau (Firefly/Serenity). Here's the kicker... it's a ballet. Then he went on to say that it's his dream to write musicals. Joss said that musicals are the hardest thing to write, but that's where he wants his career to eventually lead him. Joss, you're crazy but god bless you.
